Is recorded delivery post an acceptable method of service under section 196(4) of this LPA 1925?

Anonymous (Private practice)

Q:
I am acting on behalf of a Tenant that wishes to exercise a break clause in its lease. The notice provisions contained in the lease indicate the provisions of S196 LPA 1925 apply to the giving and serving of notices under the lease.
The Landlord is a Jersey based company. The provisions of the LPA 1925 indicate that service is effective if the document is left at the last known place of abode (business) of the recipient or if sent by post in a registered letter. I understand registered post no longer exists.
Will service by recorded delivery be in accordance with the terms of the lease or will my client be required to serve personally on the landlord? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
