Supplementary planning documents (SPDs)

A non-statutory document that can form part of the local development framework.
SPDs cover a wide range of issues giving detailed guidance on how policies or proposals in development plan documents will be implemented.
An SPD can take the form of a design guide, development brief, master plan or an issue-based document.
From 6 April 2009, SPDs will no longer have to be:
