Practical Law UK Practice Note 8-518-5527 (Approx. 30 pages)

The Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive (2011/61/EU) (AIFMD) established a regulatory framework for EU-established managers of alternative investment funds (AIFs).
This note provides an overview of the policy and measures that implemented the AIFMD in the UK, including FCA Handbook rules and the Alternative Investment Fund Managers Regulations 2013 (SI 2013/1773).
For information on how the regime for AIFs and their managers functions in the UK from the end of the Brexit transition period, see Practice note, UK regime for alternative investment funds (AIFs).
